Individual Therapy Built Around Your Formulation — Not a Fixed Protocol

- Format: Individual · Online
- Used when: You want a confidential space for anxiety, mood, stress, confidence or life transitions.
- Sessions: 50–60 min
The method
What This Pathway Is
Individual therapy is structured psychological support for one person. We begin by clarifying what you want help with, what has already been tried, and what “better” would look like in daily life.
Care is guided by clinical formulation — a shared understanding of contributing factors — not by a one-size-fits-all package. Methods may draw on CBT skills, relational work, behavioural strategies or trauma-informed pacing depending on need.
This page describes how we work. If you are exploring a specific concern (anxiety, burnout, relationships), start from our counselling hubs and return here when you want the method view.
In session
How Sessions Unfold
Intake
History, current concerns, safety, and practical goals for the first phase of work.
Formulation
A clear shared map of what maintains the difficulty — and what strengths we can build on.
Intervention
Session work plus between-session practice when useful, adjusted as patterns shift.
Review
Regular check-ins on progress, fit of method, and whether goals or frequency should change.
A good match
Who It Fits
- Adults seeking confidential one-to-one support
- Older teens ready for individual sessions (with parent involvement as clinically appropriate)
- People who prefer online continuity
- Anyone who wants formulation-led care rather than a fixed “course”
Therapy is not emergency care. If you are in immediate danger, contact local emergency services. Individual therapy does not replace medical treatment when medication or specialist medical review is indicated.
What follows
What Change Can Look Like
- Clearer understanding of what maintains the difficulty
- Practical skills you can use between sessions
- A reviewable plan — not endless open-ended talking without direction
