CBT and Skills-Based Therapy for Thoughts, Behaviour and Avoidance
When worry, low mood or habits keep looping, structured skills work can help you notice patterns and practise new responses — with homework that fits real life, not worksheets for their own sake.
- Format: Skills-based · Individual
- Used when: Anxiety, overthinking, avoidance, low mood patterns, or stress habits need structured change tools.
- Sessions: Goal-led · Practice between sessions
The method
What This Pathway Is
Cognitive-behavioural approaches focus on the links between thoughts, emotions, body states and actions. We identify unhelpful cycles and build alternative skills you can rehearse.
Work may include thought records, behavioural experiments, graded exposure, activity scheduling, or mindfulness-informed attention skills — chosen for your goals, not applied as a rigid package.
Skills-based therapy works best when you can practise between sessions. We keep practice realistic for work, study and family life.

- People whose anxiety or mood patterns respond to practice and behavioural change
- Those who prefer clear session agendas and measurable review
- Clients combining counselling for a concern with CBT tools for the method
CBT-informed work is collaborative and paced. It is not a guarantee of symptom removal, and it is adapted when trauma, neurodiversity or medical factors require a different emphasis.
