Work stress comes home when there is no boundary in the body — laptop still open in your posture, voice still in meeting-mode. Family then receives the leftover. They did not earn it.
Build a shutdown you can repeat: list closed, laptop shut, a walk, clothes changed. Ten minutes to park work worries on paper. The first half hour at home is not the time to ‘just finish something.’ It is a landing. If you snap, you can repair: “That was my day. Not you.”
If this is chronic, if sleep is poor, if you only feel like yourself on holiday, look at burnout rather than at your family’s ‘neediness.’ Adult counselling can hold both the coping and the job that may be too much.
