For you
People say this quietly, as if it were dramatic. It is often ordinary: you answer emails, you parent, you smile, and something essential is not in the room with you. It can follow burnout, a baby, a loss, a role you over-performed, or a depression that never looked like staying in bed. Friends may not notice. You do.
A practical start is to stop arguing with the feeling. Write three things that used to feel like you — not goals, small textures. Notice what got crowded out. Restore one of them in a tiny form this week. And tell the truth to someone: “I’m here, but I’m not in it.”
If this persists, if pleasure is gone, or if you feel you are acting yourself, come in. We look for depression, trauma, and also for a life design that left no oxygen. You do not have to justify a crisis. Feeling unlike yourself is already a reason.
